My voyage as a Photographer - Part 3

Then one day, everything changed...

My voyage as a Photographer - Part 3
From Dalma’s personal journal

After discovering how much joy photography brought into my life, I knew I wanted to understand it on a deeper level. That is why, in 2011, I enrolled in photography school. It was one of the best decisions I could have made, and in 2012, I proudly completed the course.

Photography school opened a completely new world for me. Until then, I had been taking pictures with my heart, but now I was learning how to combine creativity with technical knowledge. Suddenly, every button on my camera had a purpose, every setting influenced the final image, and every choice I made behind the lens became more intentional.

I was fortunate to learn from teachers who were not only excellent instructors but also talented photographers themselves. They shared their knowledge with passion and taught us far more than camera settings. We explored composition, light, exposure, storytelling, and the small details that can transform an ordinary photograph into something memorable. More importantly, they encouraged us to observe the world differently—to slow down, pay attention, and see what others might overlook.

Of course, photography is not something you master in a single year. It is a lifelong voyage of learning, experimenting, and growing. But photography school gave me the foundation and the confidence to continue that journey.

Looking back, I realize that one of the greatest gifts of those years was not only the knowledge I gained but also the people I met. Being surrounded by classmates who shared the same passion was incredibly inspiring. We challenged each other, exchanged ideas, and motivated one another to keep creating.

When I finished the course in 2012, I wasn't just leaving with a certificate. I was leaving with new skills, friendships, countless ideas, and an even stronger passion for photography. It was the beginning of a journey that continues to inspire me every time I pick up my camera.
